Next summer might spell the end of Edinson Cavani’s stint at Manchester United. The Uruguayan joined the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2020. The signing of the former Napoli and Paris-Saint Germain superstar raised a few eyebrows. But over time, the striker has shown that even at this stage of his career, he is capable of producing big numbers at this level when fit and on form.

After a slow start at Old Trafford, Cavani came into his own in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign and was instrumental in Manchester United finishing second in the Premier League and as runners up in the Europa League.

Even at the age of 35, he remains someone who can make an impact on the result of a game, even though he has had his struggles remaining fit recently.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 19 goals and provided 7 assists in 54 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions. One has to remember that a number of those have come off the bench. But, the Uruguayan’s run at Old Trafford might potentially come to an end soon.

Manchester United superstar willing to listen to Botafogo offer

As reported by GOAL, Cavani is willing to listen to an offer from Brazilian side, Botafogo. The striker’s representatives are believed to have made initial contacts with the club.

Cavani’s current deal with Manchester United runs out in the summer and at this point of time, it very much looks like he will be on his way out of the club then.

Of course, the chance of him continuing to play in Europe, has not been ruled out either and even in January, he was being linked with top clubs like Juventus and Barcelona. But at the same time, there have been rumours linking him with a move back to South America for a while now, with several clubs in Brazil and Argentina believed to be interested in the Uruguayan.
