Manchester United did not bring in a single player in the January transfer window despite being in the middle of a top four race. The decision seems to have been influenced by the fact that the club are expected to bring in a new permanent manager next summer. On the other hand, the Red Devils did allow several players like Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Amad and others to leave, as they were struggling for playing time at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek was very highly rated when Manchester United had signed him from Ajax in the summer of 2020. Things did not go his way at Old Trafford though. He failed to make an impact last season and barely featured this time around, spending most of his time sitting on the bench.
Van de Beek has already made a positive start at Everton under the management of Frank Lampard. And it looks like the Dutchman is making a good impression at the Merseyside club.
While speaking on Vibe With FIVE and as reported by Metro, Rio Ferdinand said:
"‘I’ve been speaking to a few people at the club and they’ve said that he’s gone in there and lifted the levels, training-wise.‘[He’s a] great lad, first and foremost, but you can see. A lot of them are going, ‘Wow, he’s this good, they must be unbelievable at Manchester United if he can’t get in’.’"
The Manchester United loanee is making an impression at Everton
Lampard has already made some positive comments about Van de Beek in the media following his loan arrival and it looks like he is settling in quite well at Everton.
This could potential prove to be a great move for Van de Beek. He was not getting enough playing time at Manchester United but could very well do so at Everton. On top of that, he will get the chance to work with one of the greatest midfielders in the history of the Premier League in the form of Lampard there.
Will he be able to make an impact at Manchester United when he returns at the end of the season? That remains to be seen. But for now, things are looking up for Van de Beek.
