Manchester United handed transfer blow by Bayern Munich
Manchester United have been linked with a wide number of midfielders over the past year or so and it is not hard to see why. Many view midfield as the most glaring weakness in this team, strengthening which could lead to the attack and defence getting better automatically. The club were expected to add a midfielder to their ranks last summer and then in January but did not end up doing so either time.
But that will need to change sooner or later, with the futures of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic up in the air while there are question marks over Fred and Scott McTominay and whether they can be regular starters in a Premier League-winning team.
Corentin Tolisso is someone who Manchester United are believed to have an interest in. But they have been handed a transfer blow in that regard.
As reported by L’Equipe (via The Sun), Bayern Munich are in talks with Tolisso to renew his deal. That represents a U-turn from the club, as at one point of time, it had been believed that they would not offer the midfielder a contract extension and wanted to bring fresh legs in.
Manchester United handed blow by Bayern Munich in Tolisso transfer race
Tolisso has not been absolutely brilliant during his time at Bayern Munich but has had a role to play for the Bundesliga giants for sure. And considering his lack of minutes, he has put up some solid numbers when on the pitch.
Also, he was very good for Lyon before arriving Bayern Munich in the summer of 2017. And at 27 years of age, he is entering his prime as a footballer.
As a result, if Manchester United were able to sign him, it would be an interesting move for sure. Now, let’s see what the future holds.
