3 changes Manchester United must make vs Southampton
Manchester United will know the importance of their upcoming game against Southampton. After being knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough, their focus must turn towards finishing in the Premier League top four. A 1-1 draw against Burnley in the last game means that things have become even more difficult for the Red Devils though and they have a mountain to climb.
On the other hand, Southampton must be confident coming into this game. They just got a comeback 3-2 win against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and also have played out a draw against Manchester City in recent times.
And most importantly, Manchester United look like a beatable side at the moment and not many teams would be intimidated by a trip to Old Trafford these days.
Manchester United do hold some huge wins against Southampton in recent years though and it must be said that their recent performances have shown signs of improvement.
3 changes Manchester United must make vs Southampton
Here are three changes that Manchester United must make in their upcoming Premier League game against Southampton at Old Trafford:
Bring back Cristiano Ronaldo into the starting XI
Ronaldo was unexpectedly left out of the starting XI in favour of Edinson Cavani in the previous game against Burnley. And while in the first half it looked like Ralf Rangnick had made the right decision, things went south after the break and a 1-1 draw is all they could manage against the bottom team in the Premier League.
Now, there is no hiding from the fact that Ronaldo has been nowhere near his best over the past few months. But he is still a match winner.
We have seen Manchester United struggle to get wins whenever he has been left out. And unless they have another striker that is scoring consistently, the Portuguese superstar should be starting games as often as possible.
