Manchester United need to strengthen all over the pitch and one area that needs immediate attention is their midfield. It has been viewed as a weakness for them for quite some time now. On top of that, the Old Trafford futures of Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic are pretty much up in the air while one has to wonder whether Fred and Scott McTominay are the long-term answer there.

The club had been expected to sign a midfielder last summer and then last month, but did not end up doing so either time. Sooner or later, they will have to make an addition there though.

The club have been linked with the likes of Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips and Jude Bellingham, and more recently, Youri Tielemans. But one man that they have been told to consider making a move for is Aston Villa’s John McGinn.

As reported by the Express, Joe Cole told BT Sport:

"“You look at that club and you constantly hear noises about this player is unhappy because the manager said this and this player’s unhappy because he’s been given time of here and he didn’t want it and all this.“You just want lads like him through the door. First of all they have to be good enough and he’s certainly good enough as a footballer but that is so valuable for a manager in the current climate.”"

Manchester United told to make move for McGinn

McGinn has been a standout in English football ever since joining Aston Villa. And he has been a brilliant performer for the Scotland national team as well.

Thus, it is safe to say that he has the potential to be a brilliant addition to this Manchester United team but at the same time, it will not be easy to bring him to Old Trafford.

Rumours have suggested in the past that Aston Villa would look for a transfer fee around £50 million to let McGinn leave the Birmingham club. And on top of that, if he was to depart, there would be expected to be significant interest in his signature from clubs around the Premier League and potentially beyond.

The fact of the matter is, one way or the other, Manchester United will need to sign another midfielder soon. And McGinn is a player that they must definitely consider making a move for if the opportunity is there.
