Ralf Rangnick’s arrival as the Manchester United interim manager has not had the impact that one would have been hoping for, even though the results have improved to some extent. At this point of time though, it does feel like the Red Devils have a mountain to climb if they are to finish in the Premier League top four, with Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Arsenal and Wolves also competing for the third and fourth spot right now.

The club were also recently knocked out of the FA Cup, at the hands of Middlesbrough in the fourth round. And as a result, unless something unexpected happens, it feels like they could be headed towards their fifth straight trophyless campaign.

Thus, it would be a massive surprise if Rangnick remains in the managerial hot seat beyond the end of this campaign.

The club are expected to bring in a new permanent manager in the summer. And as reported by The Sun, Manchester United stars want Mauricio Pochettino to get the nod.

Manchester United players want Pochettino as next manager

Pochettino is currently the Paris Saint-Germain manager. And despite having one of the most impressive squads ever assembled in football history, the French giants have underwhelmed this season.

As a result, rumours have suggested that they will look to bring in Zinedine Zidane as manager next summer while Pochettino will be shown the exit door.

This opens up a potential opportunity for Manchester United to go and make the Argentine their next manager. The Red Devils have been linked with Pochettino since when he was at Tottenham Hotspur.

Since then, links have cropped up several times but the stars have never aligned. Maybe next summer is when Pochettino ends up in the Manchester United hot seat. Let’s see what the future holds.
