Manchester United pulled off a sensational move to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus in the summer and he was welcomed back to Old Trafford by the fans with open arms. It was believed that the Portuguese superstar was the key to getting the Red Devils back to their trophy winning ways and many even expected the club to challenge for the Premier League title. Unfortunately, things have not turned out as envisioned.

Manchester United have had a stop-start season. They are in a tough race to finish in the top four of the Premier League, are out of both the League Cup and the FA Cup, and will face Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Thus, it is very likely that they could finish trophyless for the fifth straight season. And Cristiano Ronaldo is being linked with an incredible exit in the upcoming summer transfer window.

As reported by the Mirror, Ronaldo and Mauricio Pochettino could be set for a Manchester United and PSG summer swap.

Ronaldo could head to PSG while Pochettino joins Manchester United

Manchester United are expected to appoint a permanent manager in the summer with Ralf Rangnick only the interim manager till the end of the season.

Pochettino is someone that they have been linked with for years, going back to when he was the Tottenham Hotspur manager, and the rumours have only grown in recent months.

On the other hand, it is very possible that Ronaldo could look to leave Manchester United, especially if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. He turned 37 this month and will be looking to win as much silverware as possible before hanging up his boots.

It remains to be seen what the future holds but it is very possible that Pochettino and Ronaldo could switch places in the summer.
