Manchester United are expected to bring in a new permanent manager next summer, while Ralf Rangnick will move into a consultancy role with the club. And one name that has been constantly linked with them for a long time now is that of Mauricio Pochettino. The rumours had first emerged back when he was at Tottenham Hotspur but a move has not transpired till now.

Manchester United might have a big opportunity to change that next summer though as suggestions have been that Pochettino will depart Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current campaign.

Despite having one of the best squads ever assembled, Paris Saint-Germain have struggled this season. While they might be leading in Ligue 1, the club failed to impress in the Champions League group stage and got knocked out of the French Cup in the round of 16. And it appears that Manchester United might have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Argentine tactician.

As reported by Foot Mercato (via Get French Football News), Zinedine Zidane remains Paris Saint-Germain’s top target to replace Pochettino in the summer and the club’s hierarchy are even willing to offer the Frenchman wide ranging powers.

It seems like Paris Saint-Germain will do their best to bring in Zidane as the club’s next manager in the summer while it almost feels inevitable that Pochettino will be shown the exit door sooner or later, unless things change drastically, after the club have struggled to meet expectations under the Argentine.

Of course, this would open the door for Manchester United to make a move to bring Pochettino in as their next manager.

While his run at Paris Saint-Germain might have been underwhelming, Pochettino has a great reputation in English football, from his stints managing Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.
