Manchester United came into this season hoping to challenge for the Premier League title after having added players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho to their already star-studded squad. It is safe to say that things have not gone as most people would have envisioned though. Instead, the Red Devils have struggled to get it going and it feels like they might be headed towards their fifth-straight trophyless campaign.
The club have already been knocked out of the League Cup and the FA Cup, both early round eliminations as well, and they find themselves in a tough race to finish in the top four of the Premier League. Their only silver lining till now has been their Champions League campaign.
Thus, it is clear that Manchester United need to improve significantly next summer and a new manager is expected to be brought in as well. Amidst all this, the club have been linked with Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry.
As reported by Sky Sport, Manchester United are one of the clubs lying in wait, if there is no contract extension for Gnabry at Bayern Munich. Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested.
Manchester United are interested in Bayern Munich’s Gnabry
Gnabry’s current deal with Bayern Munich is believed to run out in the summer of 2023. And the expectation is that he will extend his stay at the club.
But if that does not happen, it is safe to say that there is no lack of interest in the Bayern Munich superstar from some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Manchester United.
Gnabry has found his form once again this time around after a somewhat underwhelming 2020/21 campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in 27 appearances this season.
Incredible stats for any player and at 26 years of age, Gnabry is just entering his prime as a footballer.
