Manchester United decided to focus on sending players, who were struggling for playing time at Old Trafford, out on loan in the January transfer window. After a slow start, things picked up pace late on in the month and three notable exits were that of Donny van de Beek, who joined Everton, Anthony Martial, who joined Sevilla, and Amad, who joined Rangers, all on a temporary basis.
Neither of the three appeared to be a big part of Ralf Rangnick’s plans before leaving and as a result, a loan spell away from Old Trafford will do them well.
Amad has already played a couple of games for the Rangers, to mixed results. He scored on his debut for the Scottish club and looked very bright. But his second game was against Celtic and it did not bring nearly as much success. The youngster struggled in the first-half and was brought off at half-time.
Ralf Rangnick has given his take on the moves. As reported by the Mirror, the Manchester United interim manager said:
"“Donny, Anthony, and Amad deserve regular game time and I wish them all the best.“Amad has already played and scored in his first game and I’m pretty sure Donny and Anthony will do well at Sevilla and Everton and I hope they come back.”"
Rangnick comments on Manchester United trio’s loan exits
It will be very interesting to see how the trio of Van de Beek, Martial and Amad end up doing out at their respective loan clubs.
All of them were very highly-rated by Manchester United at one point or another but had found playing time hard to come by at Old Trafford this season. Thus, a spell away from the club does make a lot of sense and could help them a lot if it goes well.
The Red Devils were reluctant to let any of their players leave on a permanent basis last month. The reason behind this appears to be the fact that Rangnick is only the club’s interim manager till the end of the season after which they are expected to make a long-term appointment in the managerial hot seat.
