Things were uncharacteristically quiet around the Theatre of Dreams this January as Manchester United did not end up making a single signing in the winter transfer window. Instead, the club concentrated on sending out those players on loan who had struggled for playing time at Old Trafford this season. This is all despite the fact that they find themselves in a tough race to finish in the top four of the Premier League this campaign.
As a result, there were quite a few notable exits from the club last month. Anthony Martial joined Sevilla, Donny van de Beek signed with Everton and Amad moved to Rangers, all on a temporary basis.
The club did not let players leave on permanent deals though as they are expected to appoint a new manager in the summer and would like for him to have a look at the squad before making those decisions.
This is believed to have played a big factor as well when it comes to not making any additions to the squad in January.
Did Manchester United make the right decision in January?

Manchester United did have the chance to sign some very highly-rated players last month. Rumours have suggested that they were given the opportunity to make moves for players like Denis Zakaria, Julian Alvarez and Boubacar Kamara but did not end up doing so.
Only time shall tell whether that was the right decision or not. For the time being, it remains to be seen what happens in the Premier League top four race.
While the recent performances have left a lot to be desired, one has to admit that the results have improved significantly since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager of the Red Devils. Will he be able to guide this team to a Champions League qualification spot for next season though?
