Manchester United have concentrated on sending out players on loan in the January transfer window, rather than making signings of their own. The decision does make sense considering the fact that there were a number of players at Old Trafford who were struggling for playing time. Also, at the same time, Ralf Rangnick is only the interim manager till the end of the season, thus the club look set to wait until the summer before making any more significant additions.

This has resulted in Anthony Martial joining Sevilla on loan till the end of the season, Amad joining the Rangers on a temporary basis and Donny van de Beek has ended up at Everton on a loan deal as well.

There could be more to follow though. As reported by Manchester Evening News, West Ham United have made an 11th-hour approach to re-sign Jesse Lingard. Newcastle United are still believed to view him as a possible deadline day signing as well and the England international is prepared to join The Magpies if they can agree a deal with Manchester United.

It remains to be seen how things turn out. Any move this late on would be very difficult to pull off though.

Could Lingard leave Manchester United on loan on deadline day?

Lingard had left on loan in the previous January transfer window as well, enjoying a tremendous loan spell at West Ham United.

Would Manchester United be open to the same move this time as well though, knowing that they could be competing with the Hammers for a top four spot?

On the other hand, negotiations with Newcastle United are already believed to have collapsed once with regards to a move for Lingard. Thus, it would be a surprise if the winger does complete an Old Trafford exit this month but never say never in football.
