Manchester United have been linked with a move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele for years by now. But a move has never materialised. The Red Devils might have their biggest chance to make that happen now though, as it looks like the Frenchman is on his way out of Camp Nou sooner or later, having not agreed a contract extension with the La Liga giants till now and with his current deal running out next summer.

As a result, it is believed that Barcelona are trying to find him a new club before the transfer window slams shut, rather than see him walk out as a free agent in the summer.

It remains to be seen how things turn out in this regard. But many rumours had suggested that Manchester United were once again eyeing a potential move for Dembele.

There appears to be a surprising update on the situation though. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have been in contact over a potential swap deal involving Dembele. On the other hand, Manchester United are not even interested.

For those who have kept up with the transfer rumours for years, this is certainly a bit surprising, as Manchester United are believed to have had an eye on Dembele for a long time now.

The club have not made a single signing in the January transfer window till now though and the focus has mostly been on sending out players, who have struggled for playing time at Old Trafford, on loan.

Ralf Rangnick is only the interim manager of the club till the end of the season after which a long-term appointment is expected in the summer. Thus, this strategy does make a lot of sense on the part of Manchester United.
