There are several Manchester United players who have struggled for playing time this season, which is understandable considering the squad that the Red Devils have. And while not ready to let them leave on a permanent basis before a long-term manager is appointed in the summer, the club seem more than open to let them leave on loan in search of playing time this January.
One player who could benefit the most from a loan spell away from Manchester United is Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 from Ajax and it is safe to say that things have not gone as he would have envisioned back then. Van de Beek has spent the majority of his time on the bench and appears to be far down in the midfield pecking order at the club.
It looks like he is going to get a loan away from Manchester United to find his rhythm back. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Van de Beek will join Everton on loan. The Merseyside club will shell out a loan fee and will cover the Dutch midfielder’s full wages too till the end of the season.
Manchester United star will join Everton on loan
The arrival of Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager was expected to lead to more playing time for Van de Beek but unfortunately for the Dutchman, it did not happen.
Thus, a loan move makes sense for him now and Everton seems like a very good destination for him.
Frank Lampard is set to be appointed as the club’s new manager and will have a tough task on his hands. At the moment, the Merseyside club are sitting at 16th in the Premier League and could find themselves in a relegation battle. Thus, Van de Beek would be expected to get regular playing time there.
