Unless something unexpected happens over the next couple of days, it looks like the January transfer window will be marked by exits for Manchester United. Things have certainly picked up pace over the last week or so, with Anthony Martial joining Sevilla on loan and Amad joining the Rangers on a temporary basis as well. And it looks like more exits could be close to taking place.
One name which has come as a bit of a surprise in this regard is that of Phil Jones, who only recently made his return to first-team action after a long time out of action due to a serious injury.
Now, though, it looks like Bordeaux are interested in signing the Manchester United centre-back and the move might not be far away.
As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Bordeaux are confident of signing Jones from Manchester United with the player keen on the move as well. Only the final green light from Ralf Rangnick is missing to complete the deal, with the French club more than optimistic.
Bordeaux are confident of their chances of signing the Manchester United star
Jones has been at Manchester United for over a decade now but the latter portion of his run at the club has been marked by injuries and bad form.
As a result, he has fallen out of the first-team picture for a while now and it looks unlikely that he will be a regular in the starting XI once again anytime soon. Thus, a spell away might help him.
Once upon a time, it was believed that Jones had the potential to become one of the best defenders in the world but it is safe to say that he has not been able to fulfil it. The Englishman must still be keen to get his career back on track though and a move to a club where he will get more regular playing time might be the right step for him.
