Manchester United did a terrific job keeping the core of their squad together in the summer while also adding the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho to their ranks. That it will be much more difficult next time around though, with a number of their players’ contracts running out while there are also quite a few who have struggled for playing time this season and are believed to be looking for moves away from Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba is someone whose future at Manchester United is completely up in the air right now. His current deal is set to run out next summer and at the moment, it does feel like he is set to leave as a free agent, unless he unexpectedly ends up extending his contract soon.

The likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Juventus have all been linked with a potential move for Pogba. But another surprise name that has been brought up is that of Chelsea.

As reported by football.london, Darren Bent told talkSPORT:

"“When Paul Pogba plays alongside Kante he looks like a completely different player, if they [Chelsea] were to sign him…wow.”"

Could Chelsea make a move for the Manchester United superstar?

Pogba arrived at Manchester United from Juventus in the summer of 2016 in a then world record transfer. Hopes were that he would go on to become one of the best players in the Premier League and transform the Red Devils into title contenders once again.

That has not happened though. While Pogba has shown flashes of brilliance from time to time, he has never been able to find consistency. As a result, his time at Old Trafford has mostly been underwhelming.

Yes, he has been terrific for the France national team whenever he has played alongside N’Golo Kante. But even the Chelsea midfielder has picked up a lot of injuries in recent years and has his own problems. Thus, it would be very surprising if Pogba ends up at Stamford Bridge.
