Things have certainly picked up pace at Manchester United in the final week of the January transfer window. After several weeks of a relative lack of movement around Old Trafford, Anthony Martial ended up joining Sevilla on loan till the end of the season. And now, another of their most highly-rated players has completed a loan move as well. What is surprising about it though is the destination and not the fact that he has left on a temporary basis.
The player in question is Amad. He had joined Manchester United in a huge move from Atalanta last season but it has not quite gone his way till now at the Theatre of Dreams.
Although he did score a memorable goal against AC Milan last season, overall, he has not featured a lot for the Red Devils, although injuries have played their part in that regard as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made just 9 appearances for Manchester United till now, scoring and assisting once each.
After months of links with clubs like Feyenoord, Birmingham City and others, he has ended up completing a loan move to the Rangers till the end of the season.

One has to question, is it the right move for Amad at this stage of his career?
It is no secret that he is not a very physical player and as a result, the Scottish league could prove to be a big test for him in that regard.
Amad’s stats at the youth level are sensational but it remains to be seen if that can translate to senior football as well. He would be expected to get first-team minutes at Ibrox in the second half of the campaign. Now, it’ll be interesting to see how he ends up doing there.
