After weeks of a surprising lack of activity, things have finally picked up pace at Manchester United. Anthony Martial has completed a loan move to Sevilla till the end of the season and now, it looks like there is a possibility that Donny van de Beek could be headed out of Old Trafford on a temporary basis as well, after struggling for playing time this season till now.
Van de Beek did not appear to be a major part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans this season although Manchester United did not let him leave in the summer. There were a lot of calls from the fans for the Dutch midfielder to feature more though.
When Solskjaer was shown the exit door and Ralf Rangnick was brought in as the club’s interim manager, many had hoped that it would result in more minutes on the pitch for Van de Beek. That has not happened till now.
A potential move away from Old Trafford appears to be on the table for the Dutchman though. As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace have submitted a straight loan proposal for Van de Beek. Manchester United want his full wages to be paid until the end of the season to let him leave and no option to buy.
Manchester United receive Van de Beek loan proposal from Crystal Palace
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Van de Beek has made 14 appearances for Manchester United this season but featured for just 380 minutes of football in total, scoring once.
Thus, it is understandable why Van de Beek would be keen to play more regularly, especially with the 2022 World Cup set for later this year.
Now, it remains to be seen whether he ends up getting a loan move. Clubs other than Crystal Palace are also believed to be interested in signing Van de Beek.
