Manchester United have rather surprisingly still not added to their midfield. The club were expected to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window but did not end up doing so although they did sign Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton. Half-a-season on and that appears to have been a major mistake on the part of the Red Devils as they have struggled get things going this season.

Midfield has been viewed as a weakness for Manchester United for a while now. Nemanja Matic is no longer in his prime while questions have been raised about the consistency of Fred and Scott McTominay. On top of that, it does feel like Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek could be on their way out of Old Trafford soon.

Thus, the club could definitely do with another addition in the middle of the park and Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara appears to be someone that they have their sights on.

As reported by Marca, Barcelona and Real Madrid were believed to be keen on signing the Frenchman but it seems that Manchester United are in pole position for his signature. West Ham United and Newcastle United are also competing for Kamara.

Kamara could definitely be a solid signing. He has been a standout in Ligue 1 in recent times and at 22 years of age, would be expected to get even better with experience.

At this point of time, his current deal with Marseille runs out in the summer though meaning that he could walk out as a free agent in a few months or he could potentially be available for a bargain transfer fee in January.

With just a week left in the January transfer window though, Manchester United will have to move swiftly if they are to sign the French midfielder.
