The current January transfer window comes to an end in a little over a week and Manchester United have not made any signings yet, and neither has there been any significant outgoing this winter. Earlier, there were rumours of several players being interested in a move away from Old Trafford but till now, nothing has materialised in that regard.
It is no secret that Donny van de Beek has been looking to leave Manchester United for a while. Since joining the club from Ajax in the summer transfer window of 2020, the Dutch midfielder has found it hard to break into the starting XI for the club week in, week out.
Under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Van de Beek barely featured this season, spending the majority of his time on the bench. The Norwegian was shown the exit door earlier in the campaign though, and Ralf Rangnick was brought in as the interim manager till the end of the 2021/22 season.
However, changes in the managerial hot seat have not altered Van de Beek’s situation at Manchester United. The Dutch international continues to struggle for playing time.
Wolves interested in Manchester United star along with Everton and Newcastle
As reported by Algemeen Dagblad (via The Sun), Wolves, Everton and Newcastle United are in a three-way race for Van de Beek and the three clubs have been holding talks over the prospect of signing him.
As mentioned earlier, the Dutch midfielder has struggled for playing time even after the arrival of a new manager in Rangnick. And as a result, a move away from Old Trafford might very well be the right step for his career.
The midfielder needs to play regular football to give himself a chance of earning a place in the Dutch national side’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar this year.
