The signs of improvement have been pretty clear for Manchester United since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager. Yes, the performances have left a lot to be desired and need further improvement. But the results, which are most important for the Red Devils as they chase a top four finish, have taken a significant up turn and they already find themselves ahead of West Ham United in the Premier League table despite having played one game less.

One significant area where they look much better now is their defence. Of course, it is the combined result of the defenders improving, a change in system and the brilliance of David de Gea between the posts.

But one also has to admit that there are still a number of aspects that Manchester United need to improve in over the coming weeks and months if they are to reach their targets this season. One of them appears to be how they play when they have the ball.

As reported by Manchester United’s official website, Rangnick said after the game:

"“I’m still not quite happy with the way that we played with the ball so this will have to be the next steps in the next couple of weeks, that we also find better solutions in possession of the ball.”"

Manchester United’s top four chances handed huge boost

Manchester United’s top four chances have been handed a huge boost with the win over West Ham United.

They have now moved ahead of the Hammers in the Premier League table and find themselves sitting at fourth. And while there is a long way to go this season, the club must be happy with their rise up the table over the past month or so.

Now, it is important for Manchester United to keep it going. Their next Premier League game is against bottom placed Burnley and the fans must be hoping for three points from that, after the form that the side have showed over the past few weeks. Let’s see how things unfold.
