Quite a few players were expected to leave Manchester United this January after struggling for playing time at Old Trafford. Surprisingly though, there has not been much in terms of outgoings in this month expect for a few loan exits. And with more than half of the January transfer window already gone, time is of the essence here if some deals are to be completed. It will be interesting to see how things unfold over the next week and a half.

One player who has struggled for playing time at Manchester United for a while now is Eric Bailly. When he arrived at the club in 2016, many believed that he had the potential to become one of the best defenders in the world.

But a series of injury problems has led to other defenders moving ahead of him in the pecking order and he has barely featured for Manchester United in recent times. Thus, could an Old Trafford exit be on the cards?

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Manchester United are now open to the idea of allowing Bailly to leave on loan. AC Milan are a club who are believed to have had him in their sights with regards to a potential loan move this month.

Manchester United are open to defender’s loan exit

Initially, it had been believed that Manchester United were only looking for a permanent exit for Bailly. But now, it appears that they have adjusted their stance as the January transfer window has progressed.

It will be very interesting to see whether the AC Milan do end up making a move for the Ivory Coast international though, who is currently away at the African Cup of Nations representing his national side.

There is no question about Bailly’s potential and if he can find his form, he can be a good signing for the Serie A giants.
