Having lost against Wolves and drawn against Aston Villa, Manchester United would have known going into the game against Brentford that they needed all three points. While the Red Devils’ title hopes from earlier in the campaign are gone, they will still be looking to finish in the top four of the Premier League, which although difficult, does not look impossible.

And they took a right step in that direction against Brentford. Goals from Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford were enough to hand Manchester United a big 3-1 win.

Of course, it was far from straightforward, as is the case with most of the club’s games these days and the result could have easily gone in the favour of Brentford.

But ultimately, the club will be delighted with the three points as well as the fact that they were able to score thrice as well.

Manchester United vs Brentford: 3 things we learned from huge win

Here are three things we learned as Manchester United got a huge win from their game against Brentford in the Premier League:

David de Gea is Manchester United’s most important player right now

It is hard to imagine that not too long ago, it was believed that David De Gea was on his way out of Old Trafford. He had fallen behind Dean Henderson in the pecking order in the second half of last season and after several underwhelming campaigns, many felt that the Spaniard’s time at the club was coming to an end.

Thankfully, De Gea did not end up leaving the club because he is back to his best once again and is Manchester United’s most important player at the moment.

Even against Brentford, he pretty much kept Manchester United in the game as the hosts could and probably should have gone into the break with a lead.
