Before the January transfer window, there were rumours of several changes in the Manchester United squad. It was initially believed that the club could let go of a number of players this month. And it was understandable considering that there are several, who have failed to get significant playing time this season. Till now though, things have not gone as expected.

With the January transfer window past its halfway mark, there has been nothing notable as far as outgoings are concerned at Manchester United. Players such as Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani and Phil Jones, were all linked with moves away from the club this month but have stayed till now, despite there being uncertainties over their long-term futures at Old Trafford.

As reported by the Daily Star, Manchester United have put a staggering £15 million transfer price tag on Jones.

That is very surprising to many. Despite being out with an injury for around two years, Manchester United appear to be looking for a significant transfer fee for the Englishman, who is also 29 years of age.

Manchester United want big transfer fee for Jones

Phil Jones recently made his return to senior team action for Manchester United following an absence of 707 days. And despite the club losing the game 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers, his comeback came as a positive piece of news for the Red Devils. He put in a decent performance as well.

Burnley and Newcastle United have been linked with Jones in recent times. However, it looks like Sean Dyche’s side are not going to shell out a £15 million transfer fee for the Manchester United defender.

While nothing has happened regarding a move away for Jones yet, there are still a couple of weeks left in the January transfer window. As such, it will be interesting to see how everything pans out around his future.
