Manchester United were a bit lucky to get a win against Aston Villa in their third round FA Cup tie, with Scott McTominay’s early goal proving to be the winner as the Red Devils managed to keep a clean sheet. But one could argue that Steven Gerrard’s side were the better team on the day. And as a result, Ralf Rangnick’s side will know that they need to be on top of their game when the two teams meet again, this time in the Premier League.

Manchester United currently sit at seventh in the Premier League table and they have very little margin for error left, if they are to make it into the top four this season.

They lost their previous game against Wolves and as a result, they will be needing all three points when they face Aston Villa on Saturday. Of course, that’s easier said than done.

And Alex Telles looks set to return to the starting XI, after not featuring in the previous three games, with Luke Shaw suspended for this one as a result of picking up five bookings in the Premier League already. Rangnick told Manchester United’s official website:

"“As you said it’s all about competition and in the last few weeks I think he realised there was a realistic chance for him to play.“He will play tomorrow instead of Luke Shaw, [with him] being suspended. Even when Luke was injured or when he was fit, he still did well.”"

Telles has impressed immensely whenever he has started in recent times. As a result, it is a bit of a surprise that he did not feature in the previous three games.

Questions have been asked about Shaw’s form this season and many had felt that Telles had done enough to move ahead of the Englishman in the pecking order. But looks like that has not happened yet.

The game against Aston Villa will be another big opportunity for Telles to show though that he is ready to make his mark in the first-team for Manchester United this season.
