The managerial situation at Old Trafford has been a worry for Manchester United for quite some time. It had looked like they had found a long-term solution in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While the Norwegian was not able to guide the club to silverware, there is no denying the fact that they had shown progress during his spell in the hot seat. All of the good work fell apart at the start of this season though and after a run of disappointing results, the club legend was shown the exit door.
Ralf Rangnick has been brought in as interim manager till the end of the season since then. And while there were high expectations from the German coach, the performances since his arrival have left a lot to be desired.
As a result, Manchester United are expected to make a long-term appointment in the summer, while Rangnick looks set to get a consultancy role at the club.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Mirror), Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have both sounded out the potential availability of Simone Inzaghi but neither club have made a formal approach to Inter Milan for their manager.
Manchester United have sounded out about Inzaghi’s availability
Manchester United have been linked with the likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Zinedine Zidane, Brendan Rodgers, Erik ten Hag and others, when it comes to the managerial hot seat at Old Trafford.
And now, it looks like the name of Inzaghi has been added to that list as well, and it is not hard to see why.
Inzaghi had a brilliant spell at Lazio and joined Inter Milan in the summer after Antonio Conte departed the club. Since arriving, the Italian manager has done a tremendous job as the reigning Serie A champions sit at the top of the table despite having played a match less than 2nd placed AC Milan.
