Manchester United’s performances have left a lot to be desired since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as the club’s interim manager. The fans would have hoped for a turnaround but that has not happened till now. Fortunately though, the team have shown the ability to grind out wins and their results have not been bad over the past several weeks. The FA Cup third round game against Aston Villa was a brilliant example of that.

Manchester United appeared to be the second best team on the night. Yet they managed to hold on to a 1-0 lead, handed to them by Scott McTominay early on in the game, and as a result, qualified to the next round of the competition, where they will face Middlesbrough.

Steven Gerrard’s side must have been disappointed not to get anything out of the game despite a good performance. They will not have to wait for long though to get things right, as they face Manchester United again, on Saturday at Villa Park.

Manchester United have a big worry this time around though as McTominay will miss the game through suspension, having picked up his fifth booking of the Premier League season recently. Luke Shaw will be out for the same reason.

McTominay has been one of Manchester United’s better players in recent weeks and put in some match winning performances.

Thus, they could definitely end up missing the Scottish international when they take on Aston Villa once again. And judging from their performance in the FA Cup game, Rangnick’s side will not have an easy time.

Manchester United will know though that they need all three points in order to stay in the Premier League top four race and have very little margin for error, having lost in their previous outing, against Wolves.
