Manchester United have appeared to struggle over the last few weeks and once again, defence has appeared to be one of the club’s biggest worries. The club signed Raphael Varane in the summer but even the French World Cup winner’s arrival has not been able to solve the backline’s problems till now.

They have conceded 27 goals in the Premier League this season, and only one team in the top ten has conceded more thus far. For a Manchester United team that had hopes to challenge for the title at the start of the campaign, that is a massive problem.

And although there have been notable problems in defence, they have hardly made changes to their backline unless it has been forced due to injuries or player suspensions.

As a result, some players have not gotten a lot of playing time this season even though those above them in the pecking order have struggled, with Eric Bailly being one such player.

The Manchester United defender is a target for AC Milan

As reported by Sky Sport (via MilanNews.it), AC Milan have identified Bailly as a potential mid-season signing and could look to discuss a loan deal before the end of the month. The Italian side are also believed to have an eye on Manchester City’s Nathan Ake, Arsenal’s Pablo Mari and Chelsea’s Malang Sarr. Simon Kjaer recently suffered an injury for them.

There have been rumours of Bailly being interested in leaving Manchester United as a result of his lack of playing time. And it must be said that that is a problem that the Ivory Coast international has faced for a while now.

Despite the change in management, Bailly has struggled for playing time and as a result, it would not be a surprise to see him depart in the near future, especially after Phil Jones’ recent return.
