Manchester United are expected to sign a midfielder in the near future, whether it is this January or next summer. The club were expected to add to the middle of their park last summer itself but ultimately they did not end up doing so. In hindsight, that appears to have been a mistake as we have seen the Red Devils struggle throughout the course of the season.

Manchester United do have quite a few midfield options right now but things just have not seemed to work out for them.

Nemanja Matic is 33 years of age and no longer in his prime. There are a lot of doubts about the consistency of Fred and Scott McTominay. And both Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek could be on their way out of Old Trafford in the not too distant future.

Thus, Manchester United could definitely do with another midfielder and have been linked with Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara recently. He has been a standout in Ligue 1 in recent times and his current deal is set to run out next summer. But the Red Devils have been handed a transfer blow in the transfer race for the Frenchman.

Manchester United handed Kamara transfer blow by Chelsea

As tweeted out by Santi Aouna, Chelsea have contacted the agent of Kamara for next summer. Bayern Munich and Barcelona have also made contact.

Thus, it is safe to say that the race for Kamara’s signature could prove to be very tough for Manchester United with some European heavyweights appearing to be interested in signing the Marseille man.

It is not hard to see why though. Kamara has already been very impressive while playing for Marseille and at 22 years of age, he would be expected to improve a lot more moving forward. Thus, if Manchester United are to sign him, they might have to move quickly.
