Erling Haaland is arguably the most in-demand player in the world right now and it is no surprise that he is being linked with some of the biggest clubs around Europe, including Manchester United. The Norwegian striker has been nothing short of sensational over the past few years and although he is still just 21 years of age, he is already one of the best players in world football.
Manchester United have an incredibly strong frontline right now, which boasts the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
But Ronaldo and Cavani are no longer in their primes, while Martial is expected to leave the club soon if the right offer comes in. Questions have been raised about Rashford and Greenwood as well this season.
Thus, the club might have to sign another striker in the not too distant future. And there are very few better right now than Haaland, if any.
Manchester United handed Haaland transfer blow by Barcelona
It appears that Manchester United have been handed a huge transfer blow in the race for Haaland’s signature by Barcelona.
As reported by Sport (via The Sun), Barcelona are set to make an incredible contract offer of £480,000-a-week to tempt Haaland to Camp Nou.
That is a bit of a surprise to be honest, considering Barcelona’s recent financial troubles and it remains to be seen how things unfold over the coming months in the Haaland transfer saga.
Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and several others have been linked with him as well and he would be considered as a major coup for any team that ends up signing him. Of course, staying at Borussia Dortmund cannot be ruled out either although a release clause is believed to become active in his current deal from next summer.
