Manchester United have to be at the top of their game if they are to turn their season around. The January transfer window provides clubs with an opportunity to reassess the depth and strength of their squads. And as a result, they can often make certain adjustments to improve their chances in the second half of the campaign. What it also does though is present clubs with a chance to evaluate the situations of their players out on loan.

Facundo Pellistri joined Manchester United in the summer of 2020. Having failed to break into the first-team picture under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Uruguayan spent time on loan at Deportivo Alaves in La Liga in the 2020/21 season.

And after it became clear that Manchester United would look to loan him out again, he ended up rejoining Alaves on loan in the summer.

However, as reported by Marca, Manchester United have the option of recalling Pellistri if he did not play 1000 minutes for Alaves until December. He has played only 674 minutes of football for the Spanish side till now though. The La Liga side are now awaiting the Red Devils’ decision.

Manchester United have the option to call Pellistri back

It appears that Pellistri is happy at Alaves and he is loved by the fans. And Alaves are also believed to want the Uruguayan to continue at the club.

On the other hand, Pellistri is not convinced about playing in the Championship or League One. Thus, it will interesting to see what decision Manchester United ultimately end up making although it does feel likely that things will continue as they are.

One has to admit though that this has not been a successful loan spell for Pellistri till now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 18 appearances, played 674 minutes of football, without scoring or assisting.
