It goes without saying that things are not going Manchester United’s way at the moment. They have a tough task at hand, when it comes to getting the club back into the top four of the Premier League. And their hopes were handed a huge blow in that regard, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Wolves at Old Trafford. It was also the club’s first defeat with Ralf Rangnick in the managerial hot seat.
The performances have left a lot to be desired in recent weeks and they have had a hard time finding the back of the net, despite having the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and many other natural goalscorers in their squad.
In fact, they have scored more than one goal in a game only once since Rangnick arrived as the interim manager till the end of the season.
As reported by The Sun, many Manchester United players believe that the club should have appointed Antonio Conte before he joined Tottenham Hotspur. They also expect Mauricio Pochettino to arrive in the summer.
Massive Pochettino to Manchester United claim emerges
It will be very interesting to see what the future holds for Manchester United, who will need to turn their season around if they are to finish in the Champions League qualification spots.
It appears that they are still coming to grips with Rangnick’s style of football and have not looked at their best for quite some time now.
On the other hand, Pochettino has had problems of his own, as he has struggled to get the best out of a Paris Saint-Germain side who were expected to completely dominate this season. As a result, there are rumours that the Argentine manager could be shown the exit door in the future.
