It is clear that despite their strong summer transfer window, bringing in superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, Manchester United still need to improve a lot if they are to challenge for the Premier League title any time in the near future. At the moment, it looks like finishing in the top four is also a difficult job for them and it remains to be seen if they are able to rise up in the table in the coming weeks and months.
For that to happen, they might need to make more additions to their squad in the January transfer window. And one area that they do need to improve in is their midfield.
The Manchester United futures of Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek are pretty much up in the air at the moment. Nemanja Matic is no longer in his prime at 33 years of age. And both Fred and Scott McTominay have blown hot and cold in terms of their form throughout the season.
As reported by The Sun, Manchester United are determined to sign Ruben Neves in January and could make a transfer offer around £35 million for the Wolves midfielder.
Manchester United could make big offer for Neves in January
It is safe to say that Neves could prove to be a brilliant addition to this Manchester United side and take them to the next level.
But, it is expected to be very difficult to sign him, especially in the middle of the season, with Wolves believed to be only listening to offers upwards of £40 million.
Thus, it remains to be seen how things turn out for the Red Devils in the January transfer window. It must be said though that signing a midfielder could go a long way in helping them finish in the top four.
