Going into the game against Wolves, Manchester United would have known that getting all three points on the day was very important in their quest to break into the top four of the Premier League. Unfortunately for the Red Devils, they could not get any, as they were handed a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford, through a late goal from Joao Moutinho, in what was their first loss since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It is safe to say that it was a huge blow for Ralf Rangnick’s side. Up until that point, their results had been solid under the German coach even though the performances had left a lot to be desired.

Not many Manchester United players have been able to impress this season. And one of the most worrying has been the form of Marcus Rashford.

Rio Ferdinand is someone who was not impressed with Rashford. As reported by GOAL, he said on Vibe With FIVE:

"“Marcus Rashford comes off the bench and you are expecting him to go out there and really fly and give it some. And sometimes you see him losing the ball and the reaction to losing the ball isn’t what you want to see.“That could be down to him not being happy not playing etc. But you’ve got to put that to one side.“When you’re out of the team it’s about coming in and proving to the manager what you’re about and who you are. Maybe he feels he is not getting the opportunities he deserves. I don’t know.”"

Rashford has failed to impress for Manchester United since returning from injury

When Rashford returned from his injury earlier in the season, he started brilliantly. But one has to admit that his form has faded away since then.

Big things were expected from Rashford this season, just like Manchester United were expected to put up a title challenge, but it is safe to say that both have failed to deliver till now.

It remains to be seen if Rashford is able to turn his season around. He needs to do it quickly though with the amount of competition in the squad right now and he might no longer be one of the first picks on the team sheet like he has been for so long at Old Trafford.

If Manchester United are to have a successful campaign, they will need important players like Rashford to rediscover their best form as soon as possible.
