Fernandes has arguably been Manchester United’s best player since arriving in January of 2020. In his first season-and-a-half at Old Trafford, the Portuguese playmaker was absolutely incredible and the club’s talisman. Things have changed this season though.

We have seen Fernandes struggle for form and he has not been nearly as prolific in front of goal as he has been for Manchester United in the past. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 5 goals in 24 appearances this season.

Even more worrying have been his performances as he has struggled to make an impact on games and recently, there have even been some calls from fans for him to be dropped.

There is no question about Fernandes’ ability and we have already seen that he is one of the best in the Premier League when at the top of his game. Right now, he is not though. Thus, Ralf Rangnick will have to find a way to get the best out of the Portuguese superstar as soon as possible.

Harry Maguire

Maguire has had his fair share of critics since the moment he arrived at Manchester United, when the club shattered the record for the highest transfer fee paid for a defender.

Since then, he has been named as the Manchester United captain and while things have been up and down for him, one has to admit that he was very solid last season and one of the biggest reasons behind the club’s strong 2020/21 campaign.

He has struggled to match those performances this time around though and there are a lot of calls at the moment for him to be left out of the starting XI.

It remains to be seen what happens regarding that but it must be said that Maguire is a big part of this Manchester United team and one can only hope that he rediscovers his form soon.
