Manchester United might end up undergoing some changes in the January transfer window. There have been suggestions that some prominent players are looking to leave in search of playing time after struggling to break into the first-team picture. Donny van de Beek is one such player, who is getting linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
Since joining Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2020, the Dutchman has struggled to break into the club’s first-team on a regular basis. He was even believed to be looking for a way out in the summer. But a move to Everton failed to materialise, as he still appeared to be in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans at that point of time.
However, that did not translate into minutes on the pitch, as Van de Beek has barely featured for the Red Devils through the course of this season till now.
Despite Ralf Rangnick replacing Solskjaer in the managerial hot seat, Van de Beek’s situation at Manchester United has hardly changed over the last several weeks, leading to rumours surrounding an exit once again.
Rangnick has commented on Van de Beek’s Manchester United future
Similar to Solskjaer in the summer, it looks like Rangnick would like for Van de Beek to stay at Manchester United, at least until the end of the 2021/22 season. As reported by GOAL, the interim manager said about the situation:
"“He works hard in every training session. He is a team player through and through. There will be games where he will get his chance to play, I am sure.“I also had a long conversation with him last week about that and again, of course it is difficult for him right now because he also wants to play for the Dutch national team, he wants to qualify for himself and play in the World Cup in Qatar and in order to do that he needs to get game time here.“But I still believe we should keep him, and he should stay here, definitely until the end of this season and try to get as much game time as he possibly can.”"
Manchester United have a busy run of fixtures ahead of themselves. The Dutchman could hopefully get some much-needed playing time during this period.
He still has a long time left on his current deal with the club, thus, they will not be in any hurry to let him leave unless the right offer comes in. But if the situation shows no signs of improvement over the coming weeks and months, it might be best for both parties to part ways in the near future.
