Manchester United have stumbled once again, after it had looked like things were looking up for them. It must be said that the performances had not looked convincing since the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager although the results were decent. They tasted their first defeat since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as Wolves left Old Trafford with a 1-0 win and all three points.

And to be honest, Manchester United were completely dominated throughout the game, except for a brief stint in the second half. They had David de Gea to thank for keeping the score down to just 1-0.

While there had been hopes that things were finally turning around for Manchester United, it has become clear over their past few performances, that they still need to improve a lot if they are to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, made a brutally honest claim, as he tweeted out:

Neville makes honest claim as Manchester United handed defeat by Wolves

Coming into the game, Manchester United knew that all three points were very important for them in their quest to get back into the top four of the Premier League.

Teams like Chelsea and West Ham United have not been in great form in recent times and it has certainly opened up a door for the Red Devils to rise up the table, if they can take their chances.

They certainly did not do that here though as Wolves handed them a convincing defeat. In fact, it was not nearly as close as the 1-0 scoreline suggests. It is safe to say that Manchester United need to improve a lot moving forward if they are to have a successful season and Rangnick has a lot to work on over the coming weeks and months.
