Anthony Martial was considered one of the most important players at Manchester United not too long ago. The club broke the record for the transfer fee paid for a teenager when they signed the Frenchman from AS Monaco back in 2015. At that point of time, many expected him to go on to become one of the best players in the world one day. It is safe to say that it has been an up and down ride since then.
Martial has had his moments for Manchester United. In the 2019/20 campaign, he was brilliant and finished as the club’s highest scorer.
Thus, there was a belief that Martial could prove to be the long-term solution up top for the club. That has not turned out to be the case though. The Frenchman has struggled for a season-and-a-half now and has fallen down the pecking order as a result.
Thus, he is being linked with a Manchester United exit and it looks like the club are open to letting him leave if the right offer comes in. As reported by The Irish Times, Ralf Rangnick said:
"“He made it very clear that he wants to leave and, in a way, I can understand his wish to leave and to try to play more regularly somewhere else.“But, again, it’s a question not only of what he wants to do but it’s also a question of which kind of clubs are interested in him and do they meet the demands of the club, so we have to wait and see.”"
Manchester United seem open to letting Martial leave if the right offer comes in
It is not hard to see why Martial might want to leave the club. He has barely featured in recent times.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 10 appearances this season, featured for 359 minutes in total and scored just once.
Martial has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Sevilla in recent times although a transfer is yet to be agreed with anyone.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Frenchman, who has fallen behind the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in the pecking order. Thus, a move away might make sense for both the club and the player.
