Manchester United had shelled out a then world record transfer fee to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus in the summer of 2016. But it is safe to say that the Frenchman World Cup winner has never been able to meet expectations at Old Trafford. Since rejoining the Red Devils, he has been extremely inconsistent with his performances. And one could argue that he played his best football for Juventus.

And with his current contract running out in the summer and no extension in sight, rumours have suggested that Pogba could be headed out of Manchester United in the near future.

Real Madrid are a club who have been linked with Pogba for a long time. But now, it looks like they might have changed their plans despite him potentially being available as a free agent in the summer.

Rudy Galetti tweeted out that they have left the race for Pogba and shifted their focus towards Ryan Gravenberch:

Real Madrid are no longer in the race for the Manchester United superstar

It is safe to say that Gravenberch is one of the most exciting talents in world football right now. Having emerged through the youth ranks at Ajax, he has made a big impact at the senior level.

Still just 19 years of age, Gravenberch is already a regular for Ajax and has made a number of appearances for the Netherlands national team as well. Thus, it is not hard to see why Real Madrid would be interested in the youngster.

There is still expected to be a lot of interest in Pogba’s signature though with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Barcelona also linked with the Frenchman in recent times.

In the final six months of his current deal, Pogba is free to sign a pre-contract with any of those clubs right now.
