There is expected to be a transfer race for Erling Haaland’s signature and Manchester United are one of the clubs who could be involved. The Norwegian superstar has been nothing short of incredible ever since arriving at Borussia Dortmund and is already one of the top players in the world. Thus, it is not hard to see why there is so much interest in him. A release clause is believed to become active in his contract from next summer.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Haaland has scored 76 goals and provided 27 assists in just 79 appearances for Borussia Dortmund. Those are incredible numbers for any player in the world, especially one who is still just 21 years of age.
If Manchester United are able to sign Haaland, it would be considered as a huge boost for the club and would most probably turn them into genuine Premier League contenders once again.
But, it appears that Manchester United as well as several other clubs have been handed a major blow. As reported by AS (via The Sun), while away on holiday in Marbella, Haaland told fans ‘I will play here in Spain’.
Manchester United handed potential transfer blow in Haaland race
Real Madrid and Barcelona are both believed to be very interested in signing Haaland. And it will be very intriguing to see whether he ends up at either of those two clubs.
Of course, this will come as a blow for clubs like Manchester United. But it must also be pointed out that this might not mean that Haaland has immediate plans to go to Spain. At the end of the day, he is still just 21 years of age and has a long career ahead of him.
One cannot rule out the possibility of him remaining at Borussia Dortmund either. Things are certainly getting interesting in the Haaland transfer race.
