There are quite a few Manchester United players who were linked with moves away in the summer. And while some ended up staying at Old Trafford, some did leave, either on a permanent basis or on loan. Axel Tuanzebe is one such player, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, but it is safe to say that things have not gone his way there, and another switch could lie in his future.
Tuanzebe is very highly-rated and put in some impressive performances for Manchester United last season, including an incredible one against Paris Saint-Germain. But, he just has not been able to get it going at Aston Villa this season.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Tuanzebe has made 11 appearances this season, which have combined for 685 minutes of football in total. Also, he has not been a regular feature for Aston Villa for a while now.
Napoli are a team who appear to be interested in Tuanzebe though and have been in contact with Manchester United through intermediaries to discuss a potential loan fee and option to buy. Fabrizio Romano tweeted out:
Napoli are in contact with Manchester United through intermediaries to discuss potential loan fee and buy option for Axel Tuanzebe. The centre back is appreciated but price tag will be key to proceed in negotiations. 🔵 #MUFC #Napoli

Aston Villa are waiting - nothing agreed yet.
Napoli have made contact with Manchester United regarding Tuanzebe
There has never been any question about Tuanzebe’s talent or potential. He has already shown flashes of brilliance during his time with Manchester United.
Last season’s performance against PSG in the Champions League was a great example of that and showed how good he can be when on the top of his game. He has also captained Manchester United in the past and is known for his leadership qualities.
The defender has never quite managed to put it all together though. Now 24 years of age, he needs to be at a club where he will get consistent first-team opportunities in order to develop. Is a move to Napoli on the cards? Only time will tell.
