Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United is very much up in the air right now. He has struggled to break into the first-team this season and is believed to be looking for an exit this January itself. On the other hand, the club appear to have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood ahead of him in the striker pecking order. Thus, an exit would not be a massive blow for the Red Devils.
According to stats from Transfermarkt, Martial has scored just once this season in 10 appearances and 359 minutes of football in total.
European giants like Juventus and Barcelona have been linked with Martial in recent weeks but some rumours have suggested that the Frenchman prefers a move to Sevilla, where he would be expected to get more regular playing time.
But as reported by the Daily Mail, Manchester United have turned down an offer from Sevilla to take Martial on loan for the remainder of the season. The La Liga side proposed a straight loan until the end of the season but it only covered part of the Frenchman’s wages.
Manchester United have rejected Sevilla’s loan offer for Martial
It is believed that Manchester United are open to letting Martial leave but it has to be the right offer for the Red Devils.
Not too long ago, Martial was considered as one of the most important players at the club but it is safe to say that he has slipped down the pecking order in recent times. The biggest reason behind that is his lack of form.
After a tremendous 2019/20 campaign, when he finished as Manchester United’s top scorer for the season, Martial has never been able to recapture that kind of form. And at this point of time, it might be best for both the club and the player, for him to depart Old Trafford.
