Manchester United players must have been very disappointed with the result and their performance in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United. Coming into the game, the Red Devils were the heavy favourites to come out with all three points against the Magpies, who have endured a difficult season till now and are in the relegation zone right now. Instead, the game painted a very different picture.

It was Manchester United who struggled and were very lucky to come out with even a point. They had an inspired David de Gea in goal and a scruffy equaliser from Edinson Cavani to thank on the night.

One man who struggled in this game was Cristiano Ronaldo, who to be very honest, did not get the best service either.

Gary Neville was not happy with the actions of Ronaldo and his Portuguese teammate Bruno Fernandes though. As reported by Marca, the Manchester United legend said on Sky Sports:

"“We talk about body language and we talked about it earlier in the season when Ronaldo ran off at the end of the Everton game.“He’s run off again tonight. He ran off at Watford, when everyone knew the manager was going to get the sack. And at Norwich.“And there’s [Bruno] Fernandes’ whinging too. They’re the two senior players. It’s devastating for younger players when the two best players are looking at every other player like they’re not good enough.“I don’t care how you’ve played, you need to go over and clap the fans at the end of the game. Get over to them, particularly when you’re the best player in the world, and one of the greatest of all time.”"

There is no doubt about the fact that Ronaldo is one of the greatest players in history and even at the age of 36, he has proven to be a difference maker for Manchester United.

He is one of the biggest reasons that Manchester United have been able to make it to the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions League this season.

But then, one also has to admit that at times, things have not gone Ronaldo’s way, especially in the Premier League.

On the other hand, Fernandes has struggled to recapture his old form for Manchester United. After scoring a brilliant hattrick in the opening game of the Premier League season against Leeds United, he has managed to score just twice more since then and needs to improve moving forward.

While the draw against Newcastle United was a blow, these are still early days under the management of Ralf Rangnick and the players are expected to take some time to come to grips with the German coach’s style of football.
