Chances of Paul Pogba signing a contract extension with Manchester United do not seem great right now. With the Frenchman’s current deal set to expire in the summer of 2022, he looks set to become a free agent at the end of this season unless things change drastically soon. As a result, he will be eligible to sign a pre-contract from January. Now, it remains to be seen how things turn out.
Manchester United are believed to be interested in keeping Pogba at Old Trafford beyond this season. And rumours have suggested that there has been an offer on the table for a long time. But as things stand, an agreement has not been reached yet.
The general feeling is that Pogba might end up leaving the club as a free agent next summer. Among the potential destinations, the names of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and various other top European clubs have been mentioned.
Juventus have continued to be linked with the Frenchman but are not believed to be the frontrunners in the transfer race.
Juventus linked with Manchester United star once again
As reported by Tuttosport, the problem surrounding Pogba’s potential return to Juventus is his salary. As a result, a move to Turin is less likely but cannot be ruled out. If the club let go of two midfielders, there may be room for the Frenchman.
After leaving Manchester United as a teenager back in 2012, Pogba had joined Juventus. And it is there that he became a superstar in world football, before sealing a return to Old Trafford in a then world record transfer in 2016.
Could we see a repeat of history in the near future? It remains to be seen. It must be said though that Pogba leaving could be a huge blow for Manchester United, who already need to strengthen their midfield.
