There is no question about the fact that Manchester United have not had the season till now that they would have been hoping for when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton in the summer, while keeping the core of their squad together, which finished second in the Premier League last season. Yet, as things stand, it looks like they could potentially have a tough time finishing in the top four this season.

Things needed to change at Old Trafford and the club have certainly made a few. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was shown the exit door, after almost three years in charge of the team. And Ralf Rangnick was brought in as Manchester United’s interim manager till the end of the season.

As things stand, Jose Mourinho remains the last manager to win a trophy with Manchester United. And now at AS Roma, it looks like he has his eyes on a wonderkid he came across during his time at Old Trafford.

As reported by The Sun, Mourinho is keen to bring Charlie Wellens to AS Roma. The Special One took a shine to him during his time at Old Trafford and even tried to sign him during his time as Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Mourinho wants to sign Manchester United wonderkid for AS Roma

AS Roma were heavily linked with Diogo Dalot for a long time and not too long ago, it was looking like the move was likely to happen.

Things have changed drastically over the past few weeks though, as Dalot is now believed to be a key player for Manchester United, following the arrival of Rangnick as interim manager.

Thus, a move to AS Roma and a reunion with Mourinho seems to be pretty much off the table. It remains to be seen though, if the Italian side can sign Wellens.
