Manchester United might be in need of bringing in a striker in the near future. Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are no longer in their primes. On the other hand, Anthony Martial seems to be heading towards a transfer exit after struggling for minutes at Old Trafford. And there have been some rumours linking Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford with moves away from the club as well.
If Manchester United are to sign a striker in the future, one player that they must keep their eyes on is Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian is arguably the most exciting young player in the world right now after Erling Haaland.
Still just 21 years of age, he is already leading the Serie A scoring charts. And naturally, there is believed to be interest from some of the top clubs in Europe, including Manchester United.
The Red Devils might have been handed a blow in that regard though. As reported by the Daily Star, Vlahovic wants £200,000-a-week after tax, to make any switch next month. On the other hand, Fiorentina are also believed to be looking for a transfer fee no less than £70 million to let him leave.
Manchester United handed Vlahovic transfer blow
There is no question about Vlahovic’s incredible potential. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 18 goals in 22 appearances this season. Incredible for a player who is just 21 years of age.
But even then, it will be difficult for most clubs to meet those demands, especially in the January transfer window.
Things could change next summer though as it is believed that Vlahovic is not looking to extend his deal with Fiorentina. In that case, there will only be one year left on his contract at that point of time and the Italian club will have very few options other than to let him leave.
