Manchester United and Leeds United enjoy a famous rivalry in English football but that has never stopped players going from one side to another. In was just this summer that Daniel James switched Old Trafford for Elland Road. On the other hand, the Red Devils signed two of their best players in recent memory, Rio Ferdinand and Eric Cantona, from The Peacocks. Now, it looks like they might have their eyes on another one of their players.

Goalkeeping is one of Manchester United’s strongest areas on the pitch right now. David de Gea looks back to his best and has been absolutely spectacular this season. And beyond him, they have another brilliant goalkeeper in the form of Dean Henderson.

Rumours have linked Henderson with a move away from Old Trafford in recent times though as he has struggled for playing time.

On the other hand, as reported by the Daily Star, Manchester United are interested in Leeds United’s Illan Meslier, who they consider as one of the best young stoppers around.

Manchester United are interested in Meslier

Meslier has been a standout for Leeds United in recent times although Marcelo Bielsa’s side have struggled a lot this season, after an impressive 2020/21 campaign.

Still just 21 years of age, it is safe to say the French goalkeeper has tremendous potential and could prove to be a brilliant addition to Manchester United, if they were able to sign him.

For now, David de Gea remains the club’s number one between the posts. But he is 31 years of age. Thus, someone like Meslier could prove to be a successor to the Spanish goalkeeper.

On the other hand, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Henderson, who is believed to be looking to leave the club after falling behind De Gea in the pecking order once again.
