Manchester United will make their return to action after a couple of weeks away when they face Newcastle United away in the Premier League. Now, on paper, this is not a tough game for the Red Devils, with the Magpies sitting firmly in the relegation zone right now. As a result, Ralf Rangnick’s side will be heavy favourites going into the game.
It must be said though that they need a big win. At this point of time, they no longer look like a team that will put up a Premier League title challenge this season.
Instead, their current aim must be getting back in the top four of the Premier League. But that race could get tough as well with Arsenal looking very impressive in recent weeks and Tottenham Hotspur also expected to put up a challenge with Antonio Conte in their managerial hot seat right now.
Thus, the Red Devils need to pick up some form as well, which to be honest, they have already done following the earlier departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Manchester United: 3 big problems Ralf Rangnick needs to solve
Here are three big problems that Ralf Rangnick needs to solve if Manchester United are to finish in the Premier League top four this season:
Defensive weakness

Manchester United’s biggest problem in recent times has arguably been their defence. Questions have been asked about the performances of first-team regulars like Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw this season.
On the other hand, Raphael Varane has suffered a couple of injury problems, which have kept him on the sidelines for significant lengths of time.
There have been signs that things are improving since the arrival of Rangnick as manager, with the club keeping clean sheets in back-to-back games. Let’s just hope that they can continue building on that and form a formidable defensive backline.
