Manchester United enjoyed a tremendous summer transfer window, bringing in players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Tom Heaton while keeping the core of their squad together at the same time. After finishing second in the Premier League last season and with these additions, many had expected them to challenge for the title this time around.
It is safe to say that things have not turned out that way. The Red Devils have struggled to get it going and while they have found some form recently, following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it looks like finishing in the top four is what the club will be targeting right now.
Thus, it is safe to say that Manchester United need to improve this squad further if they are to put up a genuine Premier League title challenge in the future. And one area that they must make a signing in is midfield.
It looks like Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Journalist Nicolo Schira tweeted out:
Sergej #MilinkovicSavic could leave #Lazio next summer. Lotito asks €70-80M for the serbian midfielder. #ManchesterUnited and #PSG are monitoring him. #Leonardo loves SMS and #ManUtd offered €60M to sign him in summer 2019. #transfers #MUFC #mutd

Would Milinkovic-Savic be a good signing for Manchester United?
Manchester United definitely need to add to their midfield sooner or later. Nemanja Matic is 33 years of age and no longer in his prime. The future of Paul Pogba is also up in the air, while questions have been raised about the consistency of Fred and Scott McTominay.
On the other hand, Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Serie A for a long time and linked with a move away for a while, although it has never quite transpired.
Still only 26 years of age, this might be a great time for him take on a different challenge. And if he was to leave Lazio in the future, Manchester United should definitely try to make a move to Old Trafford happen.
