Ralf Rangnick has huge Manchester United selection decision to make
Alex Telles
For years, Alex Telles had been linked with several clubs in the Premier League and it was ultimately in the summer of 2020 that he decided to make the jump by joining Manchester United.
His time at Manchester United has not gone as he would have envisioned till now though as he has struggled to get into the first-team.
The biggest reason behind that is the fact that his stay at the club has coincided with the best run of Luke Shaw’s career.
Now though, it looks like he might have a chance to break into the first-team picture, after he has put in some splendid performances recently.
Luke Shaw
Luke Shaw was nothing short of magnificent last season. He was one of the best left-backs in the Premier League, if not the very best. And he enjoyed a tremendous EURO 2020 campaign with the England national team as well, even scoring in the final against Italy.
But things have not gone as smoothly this season. He has struggled to recapture his form from the previous season and has recently had injury problems as well.
Yet, considering how good he was last season, there is a case to be made for giving Shaw chances, especially in Rangnick’s system, in order to see if he is the right fit.
Who should start – Telles or Shaw?
Football is a game of form and at the moment, Telles is very much the man in form out of the two. Thus, it would be wrong to send him back to the bench when Shaw is available.
But at the same time, it is important to get Shaw back into the team and hopefully back on form as soon as possible.
Thus, the best possible solution might be finding the right balance of playing time shared between the two until one can establish himself as the undisputed starter.
